Smaller Footprint

20ft Standard Container

The 20ft is the smaller of the two standard sizes. Inside, it measures about 19 ft 4 in long, 7 ft 9 in wide and 7 ft 10 in high, and it can be placed in spots a 40ft cannot reach.

It suits a renovation, seasonal equipment, or a business that has outgrown its back room. It needs 110 feet of straight clearance at the drop point.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Renovations in Atlanta's intown neighborhoods, where a lot in Grant Park, Kirkwood, Ormewood Park or the Old Fourth Ward can be small with no garage to empty into.
  • ✓ Contractor tool and material storage on job sites across Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, DeKalb and Chatham counties, replacing the daily load in and load out.
  • ✓ Farm, timber and hunting tract storage across Middle and South Georgia, where the container can be the only lockable building on the parcel.
  • ✓ Restaurant, retail and event overflow behind buildings in Savannah, Athens and Macon where the back of house ran out of room.
  • ✓ Sites that cannot take a 40ft: two 20ft boxes place on constrained lots and give you two doors and two locations.
  • ✓ Coastal properties on Wilmington, Whitemarsh, Skidaway and Tybee, where a lockable steel container holds boat gear, outboards and yard equipment.

Double the Space

40ft Standard Container

Twice the storage of a 20ft in the same width. The 40ft standard suits contractors, farms and businesses with large equipment or many pallets.

The trade is access. A 40ft needs 130 feet of straight clearance for the tilt-bed to set it down. On a constrained lot, two 20ft units may fit where one 40ft will not.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Warehouse and dock overflow for metro Atlanta distribution operations that need seasonal room without committing to square footage it will not need year round.
  • ✓ Port and drayage overflow around Garden City Terminal, Pooler, Garden City and Port Wentworth, where a container on owned ground can hold equipment and supplies near the work.
  • ✓ Manufacturing and supplier storage at the plant fence line, from the Kia corridor at West Point to the Bryan County supplier park east of Savannah.
  • ✓ Equipment and implement storage on row crop operations around Tifton, Moultrie, Sylvester and Bainbridge, where a field can leave room to work.
  • ✓ Film and television production storage for set dressing, grip and wardrobe that travels with the production rather than sitting in rented warehouse space.
  • ✓ Pecan, peach and Vidalia onion operations that need seasonal storage which locks.

Most Space

40ft High Cube Container

Same footprint as the standard 40ft, one foot taller: 9 ft 6 in outside and about 8 ft 10 in inside. That foot can help with tall equipment and overhead services, while insulation and a finished floor reduce the available headroom.

The extra foot suits conversions such as offices, bunkhouses, break rooms and workshops. It needs the same clearance as any 40ft: 130 feet of straight run.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Pallet racking for supplier yards in the Chattahoochee Valley around Columbus, LaGrange and West Point, where the extra interior height helps with racked pallets.
  • ✓ Any build you intend to insulate and finish, because closed cell foam on the walls and ceiling takes headroom you cannot get back in a standard 40ft.
  • ✓ Flooring plants and sample houses around Dalton and Calhoun storing rolls, samples and returned freight upright.
  • ✓ Poultry operations across Hall, Habersham, Franklin and Jackson counties keeping feed, bedding and equipment dry between houses.
  • ✓ Kaolin, granite and quarry operations around Sandersville, Gordon, Elberton and Jasper storing parts and tooling close to the pit.

Modified Containers

A modified container starts as a standard steel box and gains the parts you need: doors, windows, insulation, electrical, climate control. The result is a weatherproof structure that can be placed wherever the delivery truck can reach.

Which modifications matter depends on where it will sit. Insulation and ventilation are decided by climate, not preference, so tell us the site and the intended use before the specification is fixed.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Job site offices for general contractors working metro Atlanta and the coastal counties.
  • ✓ Secure tool and parts rooms for the contractor base around Robins Air Force Base in Houston County and Fort Stewart in Liberty County.
  • ✓ Workshops and studios on north Georgia mountain property, where two 20ft units can place where a 40ft cannot.
  • ✓ Break rooms and dry storage at kaolin, granite and timber operations that run crews well away from any building.
  • ✓ Hunting camp buildings on Middle and South Georgia tracts that have no structure on them at all.

Refrigerated

Refrigerated (Reefer) Containers

A reefer is a shipping container with a refrigeration unit built into one end, holding anywhere from -25 degrees F to +70 degrees F. The insulation is part of the original build, not added afterwards, which is why it holds temperature the way a retrofitted box cannot.

Available in 20ft and 40ft. It needs a 460V 3-phase connection, or a compatible generator where 3-phase power is not on site. Confirm your power supply before ordering.

Common Uses

  • ✓ Vidalia onion growers and packers in Toombs and Tattnall counties needing cold ground storage through a short, fixed season.
  • ✓ Peach and pecan operations around Fort Valley, Byron, Perry and Albany holding product between picking and packing.
  • ✓ Caterers, event operators and film production crews who need cold storage delivered to a site that has none.
  • ✓ Restaurants and grocers in Atlanta, Savannah and Athens adding walk in capacity in the lot rather than rebuilding the back of house.
  • ✓ Row crop and specialty growers across South Georgia who need cold storage on the farm rather than a round trip to town.

Not Sure Which Container Is Right?

Describe the project when you request a quote. New to grades? The container condition guide walks through every option.

Before You Order

Site Preparation and Delivery Clearance

Containers arrive on a tilt-bed truck. Knowing your clearance before the truck is booked is what keeps a delivery from turning into a second trip.

Required Straight Clearance

20ft
110 feet straight clearance
Measured from the drop point in a straight line
40ft
130 feet straight clearance
Standard and high cube both

Also check: at least 10 ft of width, at least 15 ft of driving height and at least 22 ft of height along the entire unloading path, plus the road surface. Gravel and dirt may be workable, but flag steep grades and soft ground before booking.
